The Pretorian Fountain, known by locals as Square of Shame for the nakedness of its statues, made in 1554 by Francesco Camilliani in Florence and brought to Palermo in 1584.

The Quattro Canti is the name of the octagonal shaped square at the crossroads of the two main roads in Palermo: Via Maqueda and the Casserto, nowadays Corso Vittorio Emanuele (ancient Phoenician road, connecting the acropolis and the Norman palace to the sea).

The Botanical Gardens, museum and scientific institution of the Department of Botanical Sciences of the University of Palermo.

The Capuchin Convent in Palermo, 16th century. Famous for its Catacombs, a vast underground burial area which attracts many tourists for the hundreds of corpses exposed in a surreal and mystical atmosphere.  

The Duomo of Monreale, Santa Maria La Nuova, famous for its Byzantine mosaics. A World Heritage Monument since July 3rd 2015.  

VALLEY OF THE TEMPLES

The Valley of the Temples is an archaeological site located in Agrigento, which is the ancient Akragas with its exceptionally well-preserved Doric Temples. It has been a Unesco World Heritage Site since 1997. Among the Temples worth noting:

The so-called Temple of Concordia, to this day still unknown to whom it was dedicated, but its name was recorded by one of the first Sicilian historian-archaeologist.

Temple of Juno, Greek goddess protector of the marriage and of birth, built in the 5th century B.C. and set fire to by the Carthaginians in 406 B.C.

Temple of Heracles, the earliest one, or Hercules, destroyed by an earthquake, with only eight columns still standing.

Temple of the Dioscuri (Castor and Pollux), symbol of Agrigento, built in honour of the twins born from Zeus and Leda, of which only four columns are still standing.

Monreale – Cefalù

We will drive to Monreale and the see the beautiful Arab-Norman Cathedral.
Inside you will the wonderful Byzantine mosaics of the old and new testament.

Then we will drive to Cefalù where you can see another Arab-Norman Cathedral and the medieval town. It is also one of the largest seaside resorts in the entire region.
Both Cathedrals are part of the Arab-Norman World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Palermo – Monreale – Mondello

Palermo, capital of the Mediterranean rich in history and culture to be discovered in all its beauty. I will accompany you with my car near all the monuments and let you taste the typical dishes of street food in Palermo.
You will see the Cathedral, the Royal Palace, San Cataldo, Martorana, Quattro Canti, Fontana Pretoria, Capo and Ballarò historical markets.

Monreale Cathedral was founded by the Norman king William II, around 1180. You will see the beautiful Duomo and its mosaics.

Mondello (Munneddu in Sicilian) is a tourist resort of Palermo, enclosed by Monte Pellegrino and Monte Gallo. Detached from the city by the Parco della Favorita.
The area is renowned for its beautiful beach, which is one of the most coveted beaches in Sicily, for its numerous Art Nouveau villas, known as the best expression of Art Nouveau in Italy.

Segesta – Saline di Trapani – Erice

Founded by the Elimi and located in the north-western part of Sicily, in the province of Trapani, Segesta is a beautiful archaeological site with a 5th century BC Doric Temple and a Greek Theatre.
We will drive to the Trapani Salt Pens, inside an important WWF oasis, surrounded by nature with a breathtaking landscape. It is possible to admire specimens of Heron, Swans, Pink Flamingos.
Then we will drive up to Erice, a medieval town located at 1000 meters above sea level, with a breathtaking view of the city of Trapani, the Egadi Islands and the salt pan, the Zingaro Reserve and the marble quarries of Custonaci.
Erice is famous for the Castle of Venus, and for its almond sweets and cakes.

Piazza Armerina

It is a town located in central Sicily and renown for its famous mosaics of the Roman Villa del Casale, a late roman imperial building and a Unesco World Heritage Site since 1997.

The town is also known for its medieval quarters in its historical centre and its beautiful Palazzi from the Renaissance and the Baroque period, like Palazzo Trigona, the Aragonese Castle which are over looked by the Duomo.  

Every year the four Medieval quarters compete against each other in the famous Norman Palio, a competition to win the patron saint’s banner, St. Mary of the Victories, from 12-15 August
